China Lowers VAT Rebate Rates for Toys
  The Ministry of Finance and State Administration of Taxation in China issued a notice on the adjustment of VAT rebate rates for certain export. The measures will come into force on 1 July 2007. The new VAT rebate rates for toys are from 9%-11%, with a decrease of 2%~4% compared to the previous rates. For More Details, please visit www.toy-cta.com

The Updated Report on 3C Accreditation of Toys
 

By June 25, 2007, 2,200 3C certificates have been issued to 754 enterprises, with a respective increase of 57.71% and 49% compared to last month. According to the statistics, the fastest growing category is bicycles for young children, with a growth of 89.31%. The second and the third are metal toys and plastic toys, with an increase of 60.71% and 56.51% respectively. For more details, please visit www.toy-cta.com.

Chinese government is taking active measures to solve the recalls of lead toys
 

Regarding RC2 Corp. recalls Thomas & Friends™ wooden railway toys due to lead poisoning, the Chinese government is taking active measures to solve the problem.

The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China (AQSIQ) and China Toy Association (CTA) hold the meeting with the manufacturers, local inspection bureau and other organizations to investigating cause of the problem. Further more, the AQSIQ and CTA also expressed that the government would further tighten the supervision of toy production to avoid the occurrence of similar problems.

New Music Dolls for Early Education has been Introduced in China
  The new music doll named 'Weiwei' for early education that designed by Chinese firm has been successfully launched. The doll combines Mp3 technology with toy function and provides original music broadcasting performance. Music could be easily broadcasted, paused, circulated and volume adjusted through lightly touching the doll's hands or feet. Moreover, parents could input stories and fairy tales to update the content. 'Weiwei' has possessed of many intelligence property rights and has already held CE and 3C certificates.

Microsoft Cooperated with Talkweb to Expand Chinese Animated Cartoon Market
  Microsoft Corp. announced its first-ever licensing of technology to Chinese software company Talkweb. With the licensed Personalized Facial Sketch technology from Microsoft IP Ventures, Talkweb will build a Web application to convert photographs into cartoons that customers can then send to mobile devices via Multimedia Messaging Service. The technology is being licensed under the shared-success business model of Microsoft IP Ventures in China. The total investment of the project valued 30 million USD.

Talkweb was founded in1996. It is a high-tech technical enterprise in China integrating industrial software development, operation and wireless value-added service.

Disney Accelerates Its Expansion in China's 2nd and 3rd Tier Cities
  In order to meet the demand of Chinese consumers, Disney introduced the quality Disney entertainment content such as publishing, television, movies, etc. to Mainland China. Furthermore, they also pay attention to developing the local entertainment content for Chinese customers.

Disney will continue to assure its business development in the first tier cities, such as Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. In addition, Disney will also actively focus on business development in 2nd and 3rd tier cities such as Wuhan, Chengdu, Chongqing etc. Currently, Disney's major consumer products in China are series of Mickey, Winnie and princesses.

German Children Supermarket BabyOne Come into China
  On June 13th, BabyOne's contracting with Shanghai FoxTown announced its presence in China. BabyOne plan to set up two infants & children supermarket for a trial within two years in Shanghai. Once the trial is a success, BabyOne will take rapid expansion mainly in eastern China and will open 50 supermarkets within five years, including formally operating its franchising system.

At present, some of BabyOne's self-owned brand products have been produced in China. In the future, they will co-build purchase centers and produce and sell more self-owned brand products in China.

More surprise, More choices--Plush Toy in 2007 STE
  As the classic product category in Shanghai Toy Expo, plush toy has drawn great interest from both exhibitors and visitors. Up to now, lots of new exhibitors from Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Shandong and other regions have confirmed their booths; the display scale increased 180% than the same period of last year. Most of the exhibitors have rich export experiences and they will show their designs, seek out new business opportunities at the fair.

Beijing Kayee and Shanghai Haixin, which have obtained ICTI certification, will display their original created products and self-owned brand toys in the fair. For instance, Beijing Kayee is ready to display new products such as series of World Famous Dogs, Polar Bear and Teddy Bear, Vogue Baby and Leisure Style series. While Shanghai Haixin will promote its own brand 'Global Partnership' products, for example, the endangered animals toy figures. Jiangsu Guotai will bring 'Gentle' toys, baby articles and its products have passed Wal-mart factory inspection and SA8000. Yancheng Angel will display their various products that have passed Wal-mark, Dollar General and Wool Worth's factory inspection.

The new exhibitor, Qingdao Future Toys, which is good at designing and producing toys for customers' individual demands, will introduce the new big plush bear series. The products have passed factory inspection of Wal-mark, TESCO, CARREFOUR and ISO9001.
