Briefing of China Import & Export Toys in 2006（Part 4: Market Analysis）
  Trade structure:

· China's toy export volume totaled 17.76 billion USD in 2006, of which general trade accounted for 20.3%, up to 3.599 billion USD, and processing trade took up of 79.7%.

· In terms of general trade export, Zhejiang ranked the first with 89.68%. The second and third are Shanghai and Jiangsu with 74.52% and 64.3% respectively.

· Among the major production region, Guangdong took the first place by a total of 92.52% of processing trade, followed by Shandong and Fujian accounting for 69.7% and 45.6% respectively in 2006.

Import Analysis
The fastest growing import category

· According to the statistics, the fastest import toy category in 2006 is 'a kind of video games used with a television receiver' and has an increase of 307.2% than last year.

· 'Other toys and models, incorporating a motor' rose by 105.6%, taking the next place.

· The third was 'other festival and entertainment articles, including conjuring tricks' and it increased 50.4% compared to 2005.

The largest import sum category

In 2006, the first three categories with the largest import sum were (exclude other toys) 'a kind of Video games used with a television receiver', 'other video games' and 'dolls, whether dressed or not’ with the sum of 190million USD, 100 million USD and 13.383million USD, respectively accounting for 44.2% 23.34% and 3.1% of the total import amount. 2007 Shanghai Toy Expo Attracts New Suppliers
 

The continued success of the Shanghai Toy Expo: Toys, Hobby and Baby Articles have made the show became the second biggest toy trade show in Asia especially depend on its growing exhibitors. In 2007, hundreds of toys, hobby and baby articles suppliers from China and worldwide will return to Shanghai New Int'l Expo Center such as Ravensburger, Hornby, Edison Giocattoli, Silverlit, Geomag, Intex, Shenma, Thunder Tiger etc.

In addition, the new development for this year is the enlarged group participation of wooden toys, hobby, plush toys and B/O & Plastic Toy from the main production region in China. Many of the new suppliers have not exhibited in China before and they will not exhibit at other trade shows either, making them unique to the fair. Furthermore, the buyers will meet many new faces in the Licensing Pavilion, such as MTV ASIA China, Shanghai Character License Administrative Co. Ltd.

According to the organizers, the fair will feature over 1,000 booths and by now half of the registered exhibitors are new suppliers compared to the same period last year.

Enjoy Your Toy Factory Tour during 2007 Shanghai Toy Expo
 

In order to give visitors insights into China and offer the possibility for matchmaking, the organizer of Shanghai Toy Expo will continue to provide the toy factory tour service during the fair.

Currently, the organizers are screening qualified toy factory located in Shanghai and the surrounding area to meet the needs of different visitors. Interested visitors also could email your focused products to f.schaffelhofer@spielwarenmesse.de.

The visitors could find the updated information about the tour such as the schedule, destinations and products on the website and e-newsletters before the Expo. Also, the organizer will publish the related information on the exhibition site and interested visitors could register on site.

China Adjusted the Toys Related Products Import Tariffs
 

From June 1st, 2007, China will impose extra export tariffs on 142 products while slashing import duties on 209 products. In addition, import duties on infant food will be lowered 5 percent, from 15% to 10%; the rate of skateboard reduced from 12% to 6%.

Chinese National Standard 'Technical Regulations on Waste Plastic Recycle' Solicited opinions
  China State Environmental Protection Administration has solicited opinions currently regarding the state environment protection standard of technical regulations of pollution control on waste plastic callback and recycles.

China State Environmental Protection Administration pointed out that the above-said standard would be the guidance document for reinforcing pollution control on waste plastic callback and recycle. It covers the whole process of waste plastic callback, pretreatment, storage, transportation, recycling and energy recovery. Moreover, the standard brings forward related technical regulations for all links of recycle and established clear restriction for the recycle of poisonous and harmful waste plastic.
